Alone in the Dark

H.P. Lovecraft is surely one of the greatest American authors of the 20th Century. Unfortunately, films based on his work often miss one of the central themes of his tales—that sometimes the things you can't see are more terrifying than the things you can. Once you're looking at a deep one in the flesh, it's difficult not to think of it as a rubber suit from an old Dr. Who episode.

But this clip seems to capture the spirit perfectly.

I'm guessing it'll be better than Cthulhu Mansion.

I have no idea if you're notified of old replies like this, but what the heck.

I completely share your sentiments on Lovecraft, and even more so about the films based on his stuff. Ack.

But try checking out Dagon. You can rent it from Scarecrow, in the U-District, if nothing else. Easily the best Lovecraft movie I've seen. I know that's not saying much, but it really captured the feel very well.

Despite the title, it's actually "Shadow Over Innsmouth", not Dagon. Seriously, check it out.
